Mary James, MA
Assistant Research Scientist
Mary James is a research assistant professor in the Institute of Gerontology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. For nearly 25 years she held a variety of positions in Michigan state government, where she was instrumental in the development, administration, and evaluation of home- and community-based services for people who are elderly or disabled.
Her longtime interest in data-driven public policy is reflected in her current work with a number of US states to adopt, interpret, and utilize interRAI instrument systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of telephone screening, level of care determination, nursing facility transitions, and resource allocation strategies. She is coauthor of the interRAI Self-Report Quality of Life (QOL) Screener and interRAI Intellectual Disability (ID).
