Rakel Valdimarsdottir, RN, MHRM
Rakel Valdimarsdottir is a project manager in the division of psychiatry at Landspitali University Hospital in Reykjavik, Iceland. She has a BSc degree in nursing and master's degree in human resources management from the University of Iceland. She has education in nursing administration from Iceland as well as critical care nursing from UCSB in California.
Ms. Valdimarsdottir has served as an assistant director and director of nursing in Iceland, as a staff nurse and department head nurse in California, and as a staff nurse and department head nurse in a health center, internal medicine and psychiatry, and held several administrative positions in nursing and human resources in Iceland. She participated in the implementation of ORACLE HR for the public sector at the Ministry of Finance in Iceland. Since 2006 she has been leading the adoption and implementation of the computerized application of the interRAI Mental Health (MH), interRAI Emergency Screener for Psychiatry (ESP), and interRAI Community Mental Health (CMH) in the Mental Health Services Department at Landspitali. She has written educational material and booklets on nursing administration, quality control, balanced scorecard, and human resource management. She has served on committees and participated in corporate strategy planning and creation of quality standards in health care. Ms. Valdimarsdottir has been an Associate Fellow of interRAI since 2009.
