Lynn Martin, PhD

Dr. Martin is an assistant professor in the master of public health program at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Health Studies and Gerontology at the University of Waterloo, and is also a  Ministry of Health Career Scientist.

In 2007, she was named an Associate Fellow in interRAI. Dr. Martin co-led the development of the interRAI Intellectual Disability (ID), and she chairs the Clinical Assessment Protocol (CAP) development committee for this instrument. She has led pilot studies of the interRAI ID in several jurisdictions across Canada, and is the coprincipal investigator on a historic project with the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services that uses the interRAI ID to help plan for the closure of the province's three remaining specialized institutions for persons with intellectual disability. As a postdoctoral fellow, she assisted in the refinement and validation efforts of the interRAI Mental Health (MH), which was mandated for use as the common assessment tool for all designated psychiatric beds in the province of Ontario (Canada), and is a member of the development team for the interRAI Community Mental Health (CMH), and interRAI Emergency Screener for Psychiatry (ESP). Her Career Scientist Award is focused on integration, equality, delivery, and outcomes in mental health services. Dr. Martin's research interest focuses upon vulnerable population health, mental health, intellectual disability, and health and social services.
