Liv Wergeland Soerbye, PhD, RN
Dr. Soerbye is a professor at the Diakonhjemmet University College, Oslo, Norway, where she has focused on health services research. Since 1980, she has produced reports in the area of death and dying, ethical questions, and care of the elderly using on both quantitative and quality approaches.
Dr. Soerbye has served several terms as a member of the Cancer Society Care Council. She has also been a member of different departmental committee working on official documents; the most recent is Norwegian national guidelines on preventing and treatment of malnutrition (2009). Professor Soerbye is a member of Regional Committees for Medical and Health Research Ethics (REK) in Oslo and serves as a member of the editor board on three scientific journals. She was the project leader of the Norwegian part of the Ad Hoc project on home care, and built her doctoral thesis on data from eleven different European sites: Frail homebound elderly—basic nursing challenges of home care (2009). In Norway the RAI instruments are mainly used as a research tool, with projects connecting to interRAI Acute Care (AC), interRAI Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCF), interRAI Palliative Care (PC), and interRAI Home Care (HC).
